Vanessa Frost and Zodiacx Balmain Lead The Wicked Ball

Vanessa Frost

St. Louis is preparing for a vibrant ballroom weekend as newly crowned Miss Pride St. Louis, Vanessa Frost, teams up with newly deemed American Runway Legend Zodiac Balmain to present The Wicked Ball, set for May 4.

Part of a blockbuster weekend, the festivities begin May 3 with the St. Louis Awards Ball, culminating in The Wicked Ball the following night. The finale is inspired by Wicked, one of 2024’s most celebrated films, offering a much-needed sense of joy following a turbulent election year.

While Frost and Balmain lead the promotions, they are joined by rising star Kira Lanvin and iconic creative Maven Logik Lee, two dynamic figures helping to bring this vision to life.

This event is backed by an impressive lineup of sponsors, including BlaqOut Kansas City, ViiV Healthcare, AltBall, The Spot, Tower Grove Pride, Yes Honey Dance Studio, longtime philanthropists Jessica and Chris Creath, and the national ballroom organization House Lives Matter.

Hosted at St. Louis ArtWorks with doors opening at 7:00 p.m., general admission tickets are priced at $15, while a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $25. Special accommodations are being made with limited hardship and media tickets. Across the evening, competitors will vie for nearly $5,000 in prizes.

The categories have been kept simple and clear: participants are encouraged to bring it in black and green for all divisions, except for the grand prize competition, which demands that contestants channel the spirit of Wicked’s iconic Elphaba, a $1,000 category.

As the Midwest Mother of the House of Mugler and the Overall Godmother of the Kiki House of Christian Louboutin, Frost continues to expand her impact on the ballroom culture and far beyond.

Meanwhile, Zodiac Balmain’s recent acknowledgment as a Legend by the Midwest Awards Ball Committee cements his historic place in ballroom history. He becomes the second American Runway Legend in Missouri and remains a pillar of Kansas City’s ballroom scene, where he is affectionately regarded as the “King of Kansas City Ballroom.”

The night promises additional excitement with Precious Basquiat (noted for her performances on Viceland and the film Port Authority) serving as commentator, a special guest appearance by new icon Meko Ebony, music by DJ Darryl Garcon, and visuals captured by videographer Chris Laird. Attendees may even get a taste of the Tabor Lights experience courtesy of the renowned Tabor family.

Vanessa Frost, Zodiac Balmain, Kira Lanvin, and Maven Logik Lee have created a space intended to bring light to a difficult season—not just for the country, but for the ballroom community as well.

If you haven’t secured your tickets yet, now is the time.
