The Alchemy of Intention: Turning Thoughts into Reality

What if I told you, on a certain level, we can create the world around us? Would you say I had gone crazy to think we had such control over some of the circumstances that occur in our lives? Well, I guess I have gone off the deep end, because we do.

You hear a lot about the word “intention” being tossed around in New Age and witchy circles, but what is intention? It is a plan or something we intend to do, according to the Oxford English Dictionary. But in reality, it is much more than that. Our reality is shaped by what we say, consciously and subconsciously. One of my favorite phrases I use to remind myself and others is, “ We always summon what we serenade.”

The word “Abracadabra” translated means, “ I create as I speak,” (and it’s also a word you have probably heard over and over again if you’ve spent any time on social media or listening to the radio. Thanks Lady Gaga).

Intention power is even proven by science. Research has shown that when we set clear intentions for ourselves, that affects certain nerve centers of the brain. The frontal cortex of our brains are in charge of goal-oriented behavior. When we affirm a goal or intention, this area of the brain goes to work planning and motivating us towards whatever goal we have set. On the more mystical side, we have the law of attraction, which basically says your energy follows your thoughts. When we set our intentions, we set the wheels of the universe in motion to bring the thing we have set our sights on. Yet, in spite of these examples, we still underestimate the power our thoughts have on our reality. Like I said earlier, we always summon what we serenade.

So, what do we do with this information? Should we all start chanting and declaring that we are going to be millionaires? Should we all go to our nearest Mercedes, BMW or other luxury item and sign our name on the dotted line? Probably not. Manifestation always takes the path of least resistance. Meaning that big ol’ pile of money will not simply appear out of thin air, but maybe opportunities that align with your intention will start to pop up and help you get closer to your goal. Manifestation is not about just visualizing what you want in your mind, it’s putting your everyday actions in-line with your intention.

Here are a few ways to set some powerful intentions:

Be crystal clear with your intention. If you say you want to make $10,000 before the end of fall, visualize it happening, feel the excitement of it taking place and then go out and go after it. Another good thing to have is a lot of trust in yourself and trust that the universe, god, goddess, etc. will put you in the right place at the right time to help you make it happen.

Feed your intentions with daily affirmations. “I will have $10,000 by fall so I can have peace of mind.”  “I will get the position at work I applied for.” Show yourself some love, know when to press in and know when the universe is telling you to let off the gas. Trust your discernment and divine timing.
