Blue Max will celebrate 50 years of brotherhood, inclusivity, and community at Bastille on Saturday evening beginning at 9:00 pm, and the entire community is invited. This afternoon, Mayor Tishaura Jones issued a Proclamation that March 8, 2025 is “Blue Max CC 50th Anniversary Day” in the City of St. Louis.

For 50 years, Blue Max has been a cornerstone of the leather and kink community in the Midwest. Their mission is to foster self-expression, connection, and celebration, creating safe and welcoming spaces for everyone to be themselves.

“As a member, and as the historian of Blue Max, I can safely say that Blue Max does not strive to be in the spotlight, but rather works behind the scenes supporting all local LGBT plus organizations and caring for our greater community,” said Jay Thurman. “Blue Max has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last 50 years and has been instrumental in helping groups such as St. Louis Effort for AIDS, Paws, Project Arc, Food Outreach, Doorways, and many more. We have dedicated thousands of hours of volunteer time to many different organizations, including Mr. Missouri Leather, Mr. Midwest Leather… It is an honor to be recognized by the mayor and city for all of our hard work.”

Attendees are encouraged to showcase their unique style by wearing their favorite leather, rubber, sports gear, or fetish wear. As part of their celebration, they will be raffling off their legendary “Wheelbarrow of Booze,” packed with an assortment of liquor, wine, and spirits.

On Sunday, Blue Max will donate $500 to the Metro Trans Umbrella Group. Blue Max and their peer organization, Rudis Leather Society, will be marching in solidarity with the trans community on March 31st.
