Steven Louis Brawley’s Jackie Kennedy Research Cited in New York Times Bestselling Book

Steven Louis Brawley poses with an original childhood picture of Jackie Kennedy Onassis that belonged to her mother – Janet Bouvier Auchincloss.

Most of us know of Steven Louis Brawley as being our resident St. Louis LGBTQIA+ historian, but did you know that he also is a nationally known Jackie Kennedy Onassis expert?

Acclaimed historian Doris Kearns Goodwin cited some of Brawley’s research in her latest book.

“As a young child my family strongly encouraged my love of history. Especially Abraham Lincoln and John and Jackie Kennedy,” says Brawley. “That passion for respecting the past grew with me into adulthood, resulting in my work related to LGBTQIA+ and pop culture topics.”

In addition to being the Founder of the St. Louis LGBT History Project, Brawley is an active Kennedy researcher and memorabilia collector. His website and social media platform entitled pinkpillbox.com is used by media sources across the globe.

Recently, acclaimed historian Doris Kearns Goodwin cited some of Brawley’s research in her latest book,  An Unfinished Love Story.

“I get random calls from authors and reporters asking me to comment on obscure aspects of the Kennedy mystique,” says Brawley. “I have had the opportunity to interview many of Jackie’s family members and friends and have visited many of her homes. I am on a first name basis with the archival staff of the Kennedy Library. Many of her friends I’ve met say she would have loved me, with both of us having an irreverent sense of humor.”

Brawley has several Kennedy related books in the works. Stay tuned.
