DOORWAYS President and CEO Receives Spirit of Justice Award

Opal M. Jones, president and CEO of DOORWAYS, received one of the 2019 Spirit of Justice awards at the 2019 Spirit of Justice Celebration held Friday, October 4, at the St. Louis Club.

Allison Price of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner nominated Jones for the award, explaining “Opal is a dynamic leader and a compassionate person. She is a wonderful mentor, especially for women of color.”

Serving more than 3,000 people a year, DOORWAYS provides housing to homeless individuals battling HIV/AIDS and their family members. The goal is to help clients stabilize their lives and health through housing, supportive services, resource referrals, and case management.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to assist our clients with their recovery, and receive great rewards every time a resident celebrates improved health and increased independence,” commented Jones. “I am incredibly honored to receive this Spirit of Justice award but must share it with my entire DOORWAYS family—the residents, board, donors, staff, and all supporters who make our mission reality.”
